February 20 , 2017 - Blacks Harbour, NB

Mayor Teresa James, MP Karen Ludwig and Hon. Rick Doucet today announced that Blacks Harbour will receive a total of $291,322 in federal and provincial funding under the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund.  The municipality will undertake two projects this year that will benefit the community.

The first project announced will improve the aeration system at the wastewater treatment plant which will decrease energy consumption, reduce green house gas emissions and more easily facilitate regular maintenance, all of which will result in a long-term cost savings to the municipality.   The second project announced will see the installation on new water and sewer lines to a piece of municipal property on Main Street that will be available for future housing and development.

The successful awards under this program have allowed the municipality to leverage a total investment of $97,110 to complete a total of $388,432 of work, without impacting the tax rate or water and sewer rate.
